確かな基本技

朝もやの薄く漂う野に、アサの祈りが響き渡ります。歴代誌下14章は、一人の王の栄光ではなく、ひとりの人間がひざまずき震える姿を記しています。数えきれないほどの戦車と騎馬の前で、アサは剣を取らず、両手を高く挙げました。彼の目に映ったのは敵の大軍ではなく、天を満たす神の力でした。「主よ、あなたは力のある者にも無力な者にも分け隔てなく助けを与えてくださいます」（14:10）。その告白は、絶望の果てに咲いた一輪の祈りの花でした。

信仰とは、大胆な勝利の叫びではなく、小さな吐息のような祈りの中で、神に身をゆだねる弱さから始まります。アサの民は恐れの中に立ち尽くしていましたが、その王は恐れを神に吐き出しました。その瞬間、戦場は死の谷ではなく、恵みの聖所へと変わりました。

私たちの人生にも、しばしば「クシュ人の軍勢」が押し寄せます。目の前の現実は巨大ですが、私たちの力は砂粒のように儚いものです。けれども、まさにその時こそ神を呼び求める時です。敗北の影が覆うその場所に、主は勝利の光を携えて訪れてくださいます。

アサは剣ではなく祈りで戦いました。それは単なる昔話ではなく、今日の私たちにも語りかけます。両手が震え、心が崩れ落ちそうになる時、まさにその時こそ神に最も近い瞬間なのです。今日、あなたの戦場ではどのような祈りが咲いているでしょうか。

Solid Foundation

In the quiet morning mist, King Asa prayed. Surrounded by a great enemy army, he did not lift his sword―he lifted his hands to God. His words were simple: “Lord, no one but You can help the powerless against the mighty” (2 Chronicles 14:11). That prayer became a flower of hope in the middle of despair.

Faith is not always loud victory cries. Often it begins in weakness―when we lean on God with trembling hearts. Asa’s fear turned into trust, and the battlefield became a place of grace.

We too face “armies” in life―difficulties bigger than our strength. Yet those moments are not the end. They are the time to call on God, who turns shadows of defeat into light. Asa fought with prayer, not weapons. And still today, when our hands shake and our hearts feel broken, that is the moment God comes closest.
